Eaglecrest Learning Center

Eaglecrest Learning Center
Juneau, Alaska
The Eaglecrest Learning Center is a new structure that houses the ski school, lift ticket windows, equipment rental, retail store, ski repair shop, classroom meeting space and offices. The facility is a two story structure of approximately 8,600 SF with "at grade" entries on both floors. The first floor entries will face east, and captures traffic from the parking and drop off areas and the existing lodge. The second floor entries face west and provide a direct connection from the building to the beginner ski areas and porcupine lift.
The facility is located north of the exiting ski lodge with space for creation of a future pedestrian plaza between the two facilities. The building is built into the hillside such that the first floor exterior walls are above grade for approximately 50% of the first floor and the remaining walls are below grade. The project bid in December 2013 for approximately $2.7M.
